Surf kayaking in Bude, Cornwall
The club has a history of producing world class surf kayakers, and some of them coach our club sessions. Who knows, you could be next!
Learn from champions
Bude Canoe Club has trained and been home to many National and World Champions, and some of them are now our coaches. Our Chairman, Jack, is a British and World Surf Kayaking Champion.
New surf paddlers start at our summer sessions from Summerleaze Beach in Bude, every Wednesday 6pm – 8pm from April to September. Winter pool sessions in Holsworthy are a great place to build the core skills you need, like rolling.
Surf kayaking competitions
Club members compete at surf kayaking events around Cornwall and Wales, including:
- Black Rock Surf Kayak Festival (April, with a rerun date in October). First class entry is free for All Inclusive members.
- Cornish Open, Godrevy (May)
- Trevedra, Gwynver / Sennen / Lands End (June and September)
We recommend Paddle UK membership, which is required for all surf and polo competitions. It gives you personal paddling insurance and a Waterways Licence.
