Kids' & junior kayaking in Bude & Holsworthy
Children can start paddling with Bude Canoe Club from 5 years old. Our friendly, qualified coaches help young paddlers build confidence on the water, from their first strokes in the pool to surf, polo and beyond.
The essentials
- Age
- 5 years old and up. If you have an under 16 looking to join, please message us first to talk about their swimming and paddling ability.
- Price
- Under 18s get our great value concession membership: £15 per month for the All Inclusive Membership, or £12 per session pay as you go.
- First session
- Always free. Bring a friend to try it out too.
- Kit
- All kit and boats provided. Just bring suitable swimwear.
- Safety
- Paddle UK qualified coaches, DBS-checked volunteers, a club Welfare Officer and full insurance. The club is affiliated to Paddle UK.
Where young paddlers start
Our winter pool sessions at Holsworthy Leisure Centre are a great place to begin. The 7pm General Skills session is open to all abilities, including beginners, and covers rolling, paddling technique and building confidence.
In summer we head outside for sea and canal sessions from Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Juniors can also try canoe polo and surf kayaking, coached by paddlers who include National and World Champions.
Our paddlers come from Bude, Holsworthy, Stratton, Widemouth Bay, Kilkhampton, Morwenstow, Marhamchurch, Bridgerule, Bradworthy, Hartland, Boscastle, Camelford, Launceston, Week St Mary, Shebbear, Hatherleigh, Okehampton, Bideford and Great Torrington, and from all over North Cornwall and West Devon.
